The present study investigates the effect of different levels of Ferula assafoetida hydroalkohalic extract on expression of genes related to antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT) and growth (GH, IGF) in Zebrafish (Danio rerio). For this purpose, Zebrafish with average wight of 0.3+ 0.01 gr fed on diet supplemented with 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 2% of Ferula assafoetida hydroalkohalic extract for 8 weeks. At the end of feeding trial, RNA extracted from liver and brain, cDNA syntesised with Reverse-Transcriptase kit and PCR were done using primers relate to SOD, CAT, GH and IGF, Beta-actin as housekeeping genes. Results showed that expression of genes related to both growth and antioxidant increased in fish fed Ferula compared to control (P<0.05) and the increase was dose dependent. The highest expression were seen in fish fed 2% extract. According to results it seems that using Ferula assafoetida hydroalkohalic extract could have positive effects on Zebrafish growth and antioxidant systems.
