Abstract:   (850 Views)
In this study, the effect of three different doses of anabolic steroids (50, 100 and 200 mg/kg diet) on the colorization and pigment-induced fixation were compared to the control (hormone-free) on Cichlid Alankara (Pseudotropheus estherae) fish. All fish (120 fish, average weight=4.43 ±0.01 gr., Lst 39.4±0.02) have been fed by the experimental diets with additive astaxanthin during 8 weeks of experimental period in 12 same tanks with 60 liters of water. According to the physical measurements during and at the end of the experiment, the best fish colorization was obtained in the treatment of 200 mg/kg feed. Fish color increased with increasing hormonal doses in diets and its increase was significant in 200 mg compared to other groups and control group (P<0.05). At the end of the experiment, the color stabilization on treated pigmented fish was particular importance. Finally, it was observed that treatment with 200 mg of hormone significantly induced carotid levels in fish more than other treatments. Also, considering the initial stages of the experiment in all experimental groups, a significant difference in color changes was obtained. The red color parameter (a) was lower in the control and 50 mg dose than in the other treatments. At the dose of 100 mg and 200 mg, there was no significant difference between two groups, but a greater red color was observed for 200 mg treatment. At a dose of 200 mg, the brightness decreased due to the fish's tendency to red colorization.
