Regarding the importance of sturgeon fishes in artificial propagation, this study aimed to find the effect of water temperature on determination of latency time of Persian sturgeon broodstocks following hormone induction. One hundred and twenty suitable females for spawning were considered for this study in the Shahid Dr. Beheshti Sturgeon Fish Propagation and Rearing complex and after hormone induction, duration of latency time at different temperatures, weights of breeders and obtained eggs were determined. There was no significant difference in weight and germinal vesicle migration index in different years. Moreover, there was no difference in weight of obtained eggs and latency time, but the results showed significant regression between water temperature with germinal vesicle migration and latency time. Relative egg weight to fish weight was in the range of 14.1 to 17.8% with a significant difference in various years (P<0.05). Results of the present study showed the advantages of using the obtained data on distinguishing of latency time, the best for obtaining the eggs in Persian sturgeon breeders in Iranian hatcheries conditions.
